For more than forty years, Derrick Barton Sports Construction, L.L.C. has been building and resurfacing both private and commercial tennis courts. The company was built on a simple fundamental principle - to provide the finest and longest-lasting playing surfaces available. We do that by using only top quality products and materials, by going to extreme measures to ensure a streamlined process from start to finish, and by taking great pride in the work that we do.

Originally founded by Derrick Barton, a former British Davis Cup Member, the head tennis coach at Davidson College and Rhodes College, a founding teaching professional at the University Club of Memphis (TN), and builder, Derrick Barton Sports Construction, L.L.C. has built some of the finest private and public tennis courts in the Southeast.

Building on the standard of  excellence, knowledge, and passion for the game that was Derrick Barton, Mark Bran acquired the company in 1999 and continued the unequaled quality in court construction that had always been associated with the name of Derrick Barton.

In 2004, Nick Buoni, President, joined long-time friend, Mark Bran, at Derrick Barton Sports Construction; resulting in the union of two former competing tennis court construction companies.  Under the guidance and partnership of these two former college stand-out players and teaching pros, with over thirty years combined experience in the tennis industry, the company prospered.  What continued to make Derrick Barton Sports Construction a standout and rarity among tennis court construction companies was Mark and Nick’s knowledge that the only way to build a tennis court was to do so from a tennis player’s perspective.  Together, these gentlemen successfully grew Derrick Barton Sports Construction to become one of the most recognized names in tennis court construction in the southeast.

In 2008, Nick took over complete ownership of Derrick Barton Sports Construction, L.L.C. while Mark sought to pursue other opportunities.
